Tour historic buildings and see what life was like back in 1856 in Brigham Young's home, Listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir "America's Choir" and hear the legacy and history of the Mormon people. Come see how the Salt Lake Temple was built and why it took Forty Years to complete. See the artifacts of Mormon culture and history in the Museum, and search information on your ancestors. These are just a few of the wonderful attractions located at Historic Temple Square.
The Church History Museum uses art and artifacts to illustrate and animate the story of the Restoration and the spiritual and cultural legacy of the Latter-Day Saints.
Admission is FREE. Open 7 days a week except holidays.
Highlights include:
World-renowned gardens surround the 35 acres of the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These gardens include 250 flower beds, more than 165,000 bedding plants, and over 700 varieties of plants from all over the world. The gardens are redesigned every six months and replanted by hundreds of volunteers. Free one-hour garden tours are given May through September.
The Legacy Theater, a 500-seat theater located inside the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, is now playing Joseph Smith The Prophet of the Restoration.
The film shows Monday through Saturday every hour and a half from 9am-9pm. All seating is by general admission, no reservations required. For more information contact Guest Services at 801-240-1245. Closed Sunday (On Sundays the film will play in the North Visitors Center from 10:30am-7:30pm).
